The mission of the Student Success and Discernment Center (SSDC) is to provide all students with the academic and emotional support they need to succeed in their studies and to prepare for life after Machebeuf. In collaboration with parents and teachers, the SSDC strives to meet students’ academic and personal needs through academic advising and support as well as mental health counseling.
The SSDC provides academic support and mental health support with an emphasis on open and effective communication with families and teachers. Academic support includes course planning during high school and post-graduation preparation, academic monitoring, tutorial services, and accommodations for students with disabilities. Mental health support includes counseling for students, teachers, and staff members.
Through our partnership with St. Raphael’s Counseling, we are able to provide mental health support with services rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church. St. Raphael Counseling brings its extensive resources and expertise to Bishop Machebeuf High School to support the mental, emotional, and spiritual health of students and staff.
